Karly's Vacation

As many of you know, my parents went on a cruise from NYC to Nova Scotia and left me in charge of manning the fort. That's right, an entire week of just Karly (writer), Maid Marian (golden retriever) and Calcifer (tabby cat).

So here's a brief rundown of the first day of Karly's vacation:

Sunday- 9:30 pm-

Mom and Dad leave

Heather and I begin making breakfast for dinner

10:00 pm-

Have breakfast for dinner with Marlon and Kellen.

Play a round of Life

11:00 pm-

I shoo everyone out politely.

11:30 pm-

Chat with Dave online for a while.

12:00 am-

Heavily contemplate skinny dipping.

Go outside wearing nothing but hoodie to weigh options.

Dip hand in pool water.

Cold. Decide against it. Unplug pool pump

Bring computer outside to enjoy night and continue conversation.

12:20 am-

Computer begins malfunctioning. Decide tea sounds nice.

Fix a cup of decaffeinated mint tea with milk.

12:30 am-

sip tea and read Rooster Teeth webcomic

2:20 am-

decide a bath might be nice. Also hungry.

2:30 am-

Bath plus leftover Chipotle chips and guacamole. Best bath ever?

3:00 am-

Get out. Let Maid out to do business.

Begin making sure everything locked and/or closed.

3:30 am-

Affairs in order. Maid curled up next to my bed. Feel safe. Sleep.

7:30 am-

Phone call from Mom. Tells me they have arrived in NYC. Much love. Go back to sleep.

11:20 am-

Wake up. Feel too groggy. Calcifer on legs, Maid huddled next to bed.

Back to sleep.

12:00 pm-

Determined to wake up, but don't make it to sitting position.

More sleep.

12:45 pm-

I'm up, already!

Wander downstairs, shut off alarm system, let Maid out.

Fix waffle for breakfast.

Eye doughnuts from Marlon but resist.

Let Maid back in.

Run dishwasher

1:00 pm-

Water plants, clean up backyard from Kellen, Heather, and Marlon's mess.

1:30 pm-

Just a few more Rooster Teeth comics...

1:45 pm-

Heather stops by to pick up Kellen's vest.

Decide to change into bathing suit

2:00 pm-

No pool shock. Text Kellen, call Dad, begin blasting Lady GaGa out back to annoy neighbors.

2:20 pm-

Go swimming/ underwater dancing to Lady GaGa

3:30 pm-

Done swimming.

Lay out to dry/tan

3:45 pm-

Back inside. Call Heather about buying pool shock. Get Maid food. Check on Calcifer.

Contemplate going on a walk.

3:50 pm-

Shower

4:17 pm-

Dress

Resist temptation of doughnuts

Heat up leftovers for lunch

4:30 pm-

Heather arrives.

Lowes for pool shock

5:25 pm-

Back home.

5:30 pm-

Kellen suddenly bursts in the door out of nowhere, insists I come over for dinner.

I say I need to take Maid for a walk. He says to bring her.

5:45 pm-

At Heather and Kellen's

5:50 pm-

Take Maid and Bongo (Kellen and Heather's beagle) for walk.

Walk all the way around Fleming, the scariest looking school this side of a Roald Dahl book.

So many dogs in their neighborhood. Nearly cause a riot. Maid does not bark back. Whosa googirl, Maid?

6:40 pm-

back at their house. help clean up.

Take charge of Elianna, who is fussy.

Sing song of own devising and give her bottle.

7:30 pm-

Victory! Ellianna is asleep.

7:50 pm-

Dinner- stuffed baked potatoes.

Kellen puts on Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

9:00 pm-

Pause for potty break/cleaning kitchen

Feminine crisis.

9:30 pm-

Back in the saddle. Finish movie.

10:40 pm-

Movie over. Kellen needs to walk Bongo. Say goodbyes and bring Maid along for walk.

11:10 pm-

back

11:30 pm-

home.

Turn on lights, see that cat is not concerned and things are as should be.

turn off pool pump, close windows, lock doors, unload dishwasher, resist temptation for doughnuts, put on tea.

12:00 am-

online.

12:10 am-

begin writing blog.

I could be really good living alone, provided I have a couple of animals around.
